Documentary Production Minor


Once accepted to the minor, students will meet with the Documentary Production Minor advisor to plan future enrollment. With the approval of the department that administers the student's degree program, courses that are used to satisfy the requirements for the minor may also be used to satisfy the requirements for the bachelor's degree. The student's program of study must be approved by the student's academic advisor for the minor.

The student must complete at least 15 credits from the following:

1. The following courses (6 credits):

FLM/MI/WRA/JRN 211: Documentary History and Theory (3 Credits)
FLM/MI/WRA/JRN 311: Introduction to Documentary Production (3 credits)

2. Complete at least 6 credits from one of the following technical areas:

Audio and Video

MI 337: Compositing and Special Effects (3 credits)
MI 341: Film Style Production for Cinema and TV (3 credits)
MI 344: Sound Design (3 credits)
MI 348: Advanced Lighting and Camera Techniques (3 credits)
MI 352: Advanced Video Editing (3)

Broadcast News

JRN 306: Radio and Television News (3 credits)
JRN 403: TV News (3 credits)
JRN 406: Advanced TV News (3 credits)

Film Studies

FLM 260: Introduction to Digital Film and Emergent Media (4 credits)
FLM 334: Introduction to Screenwriting (3 credits)
FLM 336: Aesthetics of Film Editing (3 credits)
FLM 438: Film Financing, Programming, and Distribution (3)
